I have worked for the City of Wolverhampton Council since 1987 in various departments, primarily in Finance and Data Support. Moving to the Education Department in the mid 90's my first role was in budget planning and FMS support, progressing to MIS/technical support and Team Manager in 2001. I am also a qualified Coach and Mentor.

Although involved in all parts of MIS support, my main areas of expertise include Attendance, Behaviour Management, SEN, Personnel and Reporting.

I joined Wolverhampton City Council as a Customer Service and Administration Apprentice in 2003 and gained experience in a variety of areas over the years before joining the Team in April 2010 as a Schools Data Support Officer supporting schools in Assessment Analysis, Personnel, Data Entry, Reporting and Census.

In 2019 I became Schools MIS Support Officer which includes training and development of school staff and identifying areas for development as well as providing guidance for future training needs. I am also responsible, alongside my colleagues, for finding solutions to the queries and issues logged through our school’s support desk ticket system for Arbor, SIMS and Bromcom, and termly upgrades.

I also still cover the Data Support Role, visiting schools on a regular basis to assist in tasks such as Census, Statutory Returns, Funding Returns, End of Year Procedures and much more.

My role as Schools MIS Development Officer involves offering support and advice on how to fully utilise and develop your Schools Management Information System.

Working in the MIS Support Team at Wolverhampton Council since 2007 has given me valuable experience of supporting a diverse range of schools’ working towards their own specific ambitions. I am especially good at understanding issues from a school’s perspective and can offer bespoke solutions developed from other school’s successful experiences. My recent projects have focused on Assessment, Custom Reporting, Power BI and Timetabling but the Team and I also support Attendance, Assessment, Behaviour, Interventions, Statutory Returns, Personnel, Online Payments etc for SIMS, Arbour and Bromcom. I enjoy my job and especially like helping others to get the most out of their MIS.

Prior to this role I studied Software Engineering, developed intranet information systems for the NHS, customised content management systems and used SQL and web languages to develop websites in the private sector.

I joined the team in 2019 as an MIS Development Officer.

My early career was as a programmer and later a business systems analyst in the finance sector.  Following that I was a Data Manager and Exams Officer in local Secondary and All-through schools for ten years.  I gained a huge amount of experience of different schools and their requirements from their MIS and used both SIMS and Bromcom during that time.  I also managed the migration to a new MIS for two of the schools.

All of that experience has been useful in my current role supporting schools with training in different areas of their MIS, resolving issues and advising on best practice.  Recent projects have included helping two Academy Trusts to migrate to Bromcom, and supporting them on Bromcom, as well as continuing to provide specialist secondary support on SIMS, Bromcom and Arbor.
